Indonesian Police Confirms 26 Million Personal Data Allegedly Leaked in Brached Forum are Hoax

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) confirmed that 26 million documents allegedly leaked by hackers from the Brached Forum website are hoaxs and obsolete data.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, said that his party had obtained this certainty from the results of the investigation by the Cyber ​​Police Team.

"I have asked. After the Cyber ​​Team investigated, it was a hoax. The data is in 2016," explained Dedi, to reporters, in Jakarta, Friday, September 23, 2022.

Dedi said that the documents or data that were said to have been leaked turned out to be easily available on the internet.

Dedi gave an example, there is no relationship between one data and another. For example, the data from the Central Kalimantan Police is not connected to the data from the Polda Metro Jaya Police.

"The data can be obtained on the internet. Data from the Central Kalimantan Police, is not connected to the Metro Police," said Dedi.

However, the alleged data leak will still be investigated. Police will conduct exploration to track down the perpetrators.
