JAKARTADAILY – In addition to having formed a data protection task force, according to the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, the government has accelerated the Bill on Personal Data Protection (RUU PDP) so that it will immediately be ratified in the plenary session of the DPR.
Mahfud MD gave his statement regarding various cases of data leaks that have recently occurred, including the hacking case by a hacker under the pseudonym Bjorka, at a virtual press conference on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
According to Mahfud, the data protection task force consists of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Minister of Communication and Information Jhonny G Plate, Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan, Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) Hinsa Siburian, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
"We from the government have created a task force to be more careful (protect and secure data)," Mahfud said at a press conference yesterday.
The minister with a civilian background, who was the first to assume the position of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs revealed several things that underlie the formation of a data protection task force.
One of them is mandated in the Personal Data Protection Bill which will soon be ratified by the DPR.
"So far, the PDP Bill has been ratified at the first level by the DPR and will soon be ratified at the second level through a plenary session of the DPR," said Mahfud.
