JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) has summoned PT PLN (State Own Electric Company) regarding the information on alleged leaks of customer data.
Director General of Informatics Applications, Semuel A. Pangerapan said the summons had been made on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
"In connection with the unauthorized distribution of personal data of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) customers, the Directorate General of Aptika, Ministry of Communications and Informatics has summoned PLN management on Saturday, August 20, 2022, to ask for information on the alleged data leak," Samuel said in a statement written statement on Sunday, August 21, 2022.

Samuel explained that PLN reported that they were conducting an ongoing evaluation of PLN's cybersecurity system. At the same time, PLN has also improved the protection system for the personal data of PLN customers.
"PLN also said that PLN's information technology operational system is still in a safe condition and public services is still running well," said Samuel.
He added that efforts to improve the security of PLN's personal data protection system are also being carried out together with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN). The Ministry of Communications and Informatics has submitted technical recommendations to PLN to improve the protection of the personal data of PLN customers.
“Furthermore, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics will continue to review the fulfillment of PLN's obligations to the applicable personal data protection provisions and other related obligations in accordance with laws and regulations," he concluded.
