WIR Group Will Present Indonesian Version of Metaverse at G20 Summit

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information wants to further the development of the Indonesian version of Metaverse.

One of the manifestations of Indonesia's existence in the world of the Metaverse will be shown by the WIR Group. This creative business group will present the Indonesian version of Metaverse at the G20 main event where Indonesia holds the 2022 Presidency.

“Metaverse Indonesia has begun to form from the sector whose user ecosystem is most adaptive to adopting digital innovation. This will also continue to evolve and be used by the wider community. Of course, this development uses resources, connectivity, and all elements of informatics in Indonesia, and involves various companies that have focused on developing it," said Minister of Communications and Informatics Johnny G Plate in Jakarta in an official press release of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology quoted on Saturday (January 15, 2022).

WIR Group is a Metaverse software Technology company from Indonesia. The company will introduce the Indonesian version of the Metaverse prototype at the 2022 G20 Indonesia Presidency.

In the same press release, it is stated that the WIR Group will invite global companies, such as Meta (Facebook) and Microsoft as hardware developers, such as augmented glasses and virtual reality. This government-private and inter-company collaboration plan are expected to be able to pioneer the Indonesian version of the Metaverse that can provide benefits to the Indonesian people in the digital era.

WIR Group Chief Executive Officer michael Budi is optimistic that domestic human resources are able to develop Metaverse Technology.

"Because massive support from the government will greatly affect developers in various sectors of life. In a relatively short time, the vision of rapidly developing the Metaverse Technology sector in Indonesia can be realized," he said.

Metaverse is a collaborative universe that combines human interaction with avatars as well as various products and services between the real world and the unlimited digital world, where everything can take place simultaneously and in parallel. Metaverse has great potential for people to interact, work, learn and create.

Of course, it's not just for 'gaming' or NFT (non-fungible tokens) exchange. NFT is a digital asset that describes the original object, cannot be used as a medium of exchange but can be traded just like physical assets. (*)
