JAKARTADAILY.ID - Hacking, data breaches, and leaks are still rampant in various institutions in Indonesia, as data from the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) detected nearly 500 million traffic anomalies and more than 1.19 billion cyberattacks to the country in January through October.
This information was revealed by a top-level official at BSSN during a cyber security discussion at Savero Hotel in Depok, West Java, on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021. The agency invited a number of representatives from the ICT sector.
In her opening speech, Retno Artinah Suryandari, BSSN's Director of Cyber Security and Crypto for Information and Communication Technology, Media, and Transportation reminded that the nation needs to strengthen its cyber security protection, especially for vital ICT-related infrastructure.
She said that the agency continues to learn and analyze cyber-attack patterns.
Retno added that strengthening the government's identification and detection capabilities, and a discussion to profile cyber security loopholes is a start that is necessary to help prevent cyber attacks as well as cyber threats.
"It needs a synergy from all actors in the ICT sector, and together with BSSN, we need to profile cyber security risks on business processes and services. Likewise, other stakeholders in the cyber security sector, including the supervisory and regulatory agencies, industry associations, practitioners, academics, and electronic system operators in the ICT sector, also need to contribute," she said in a statement prepared by BSSN's Bureau of Law and Public Communication.
Retno said she hopes that this discussion can help improve the awareness of all stakeholders in the ICT sector and encourage them to take part in collaboration and synergy with BSSN to boost cyber security awareness.
The discussion was participated by representatives of the Indonesian Internet Domain Name Registry (PANDI), the Internet Service Provider Association (APJII), the Indonesian Telematics Society (MASTEL), the Indonesian ICT Auditors Association (PASTIKINDO), the Indonesian Telematics Software Association (ASPILUKI), the Informatics Experts Association (IAII).
There were also representatives from the Indonesian Information System Audit Association (IASII), the Indonesian representatives of ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association), the Cryptographer Functional Association (AFSI), the Indonesian ICT Volunteers, and the National ICT Entrepreneurs Association (APTIKNAS).
The discussion was divided into two sessions.
In the first session, speech and presentations were delivered by Nur Achmadi, BSSN's senior cryptographer, Mariam F. Barat, the ICT Ministry's expert staff at the Directorate General of Information Applications at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, and Chandra Yulistia, a member of the Management Board at the Indonesian Information System Audit Association.
In the second session, there were discussion materials delivered by Abraham Ferdinand, a cryptograper, Richi Actorian, the Chapter Secretary of ISACA Indonesia, and Muhammad Fauzi the Deputy for Development, Applied Research, Innovation and Technology at PANDI.
