JAKARTADAILY.ID – Universal Pictures has unveiled the highly anticipated teaser trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game, Five Nights at Freddy's.

The teaser, released by Universal Pictures, takes viewers back to the 1980s with an employee training video for Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. The video portrays the restaurant as a wholesome family entertainment center, reminiscent of Chuck E. Cheese or ShowBiz Pizza Place. However, as the teaser progresses, it reveals the dilapidated state of the building and the horrifying truth behind the animatronic mascots that come to life.

Produced by Blumhouse, the Five Nights at Freddy's film is set to premiere in theaters and on Peacock streaming service on October 27th. The movie is based on the popular horror video game franchise created by Scott Cawthon and is directed by Emma Tammi.

Tammi co-wrote the screenplay with Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback. The official synopsis describes the film as following a troubled security guard's experience working at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where he quickly realizes that surviving the night shift won't be an easy task.

Staying true to the original game released in 2014, the Blumhouse and Universal adaptation features Josh Hutcherson as the protagonist, Mike Schmidt, the security guard. The cast also includes Matthew Lillard as William Afton, the founder of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and the main antagonist of the game series. Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, and Mary Stuart Masterson round out the talented ensemble. The film's animatronic mascots are brought to life by Jim Henson's Creature Shop, ensuring an extra layer of authenticity.

The journey to bring Five Nights at Freddy's to the big screen has been a long one. Since the release of the original game nine years ago, it has spawned seven sequels and various spinoff games, as well as tie-in novels and comics.

Plans for a film adaptation have been in the works since 2015, initially under development at Warner Bros. Pictures before transitioning to Blumhouse in 2017. After an eight-year process, production finally commenced in February of this year.

Fans of the beloved horror game franchise can mark their calendars for October 27th when Five Nights at Freddy's will simultaneously hit theaters and Peacock. The film promises to bring the thrilling and terrifying experience of the game to life on the silver screen, delivering an unforgettable cinematic adventure.
