JAKARTADAILY.ID – President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko "Joko" Widodo emphasized the importance of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) having a business license and a Business Identification Number (NIB).
The President reminded the audience that MSMEs have a major contribution to the economy and employment in the country. Currently, there are 65.4 million MSMEs in Indonesia, with a large contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), reaching 61 percent.
"This is our first key in trying, permission must be. Because we have 65.4 million MSMEs, once again, 65.4 million MSMEs, this is data as of 2021 and the contribution to our economy, our GDP, is very large 61 percent," said President Jokowi in the Provision of NIB for Micro and Small Business Actors at the Nanggala Kopassus Sports Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
"Therefore, if the government doesn't take care of MSMEs, it's wrong, it's a big mistake. Because the contribution to the national economy is 61 percent and 97 percent of employment is in MSMEs, not in the big ones. This needs to be noted," continued Jokowi, quoted from the official website of the State Secretariat, Thursday, July 14, 2022.
"Invite them all to hold the NIB, so that if they want to take credit at the bank it's easy. If later there is assistance for micro-enterprises from the government, it will also be easy, we open it, we have all met. Because everyone holds the NIB. If we don't have this (NIB-red), it will be very difficult for MSMEs if the government wants to help, "he said.
Furthermore, the President encouraged MSME players to immediately improve the quality of the products they sell, starting from the packaging, designs, and materials used so that they can immediately enter the export market. The President said he was happy because currently there are many MSME products that are leading to better quality.
