Pertamina Patra Niaga Starts Operations of Three New LPG Terminals in Wayame, Jayapura and Dumai

JAKARTADAILY.ID – Pertamina Patra Niaga Subholding Commercial & Trading PT Pertamina has completed construction and is ready to operate three new LPG Terminals.

The three new LPG Terminals were built in accordance with international technical and safety standards and will serve the needs of LPG in; wayame, Maluku; Jayapura, Papua; and Dumai, Riau.

"With the operation of this new LPG Terminal, Pertamina Patra Niaga hopes that energy security in the area will be further maintained and that we can meet the community's energy needs properly," explained the President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Alfian Nasution on Friday, December 9, 2022.

"This is Pertamina Patra Niaga's role in ensuring the Availability, Accessibility, and Affordability of energy in all regions in Indonesia," he continued.

Alfian said the construction and operation of this new LPG Terminal is part of Pertamina Patra Niaga's commitment to carrying out assignments regarding the construction and operation of fuel and LPG storage tanks in Indonesia, even the development of LPG Terminals in Eastern Indonesia is included in the National Strategic Project (PSN).

As one of the National Strategic Projects, the wayame and Jayapura LPG Terminals which will serve LPG needs in Maluku and Papua were built with a capacity of 2 x 1,000 Metric Tonnes (MT) each. As for the Dumai LPG Terminal, it was built with a capacity of 2 x 3,000 MT.

"So the wayame and Jayapura LPG Terminals are prepared to secure LPG supply in the Eastern Indonesia region, and for the Dumai LPG Terminal, the aim is more to increase supply reliability to meet LPG needs which are currently around 910 MT per day. In general, this is a form of strengthening Pertamina Patra Niaga's energy distribution chain throughout the country," Alfian explained.

In addition to strengthening supply reliability, the presence of the 3 new LPG Terminals also has a positive impact in terms of operational efficiency of LPG distribution in the region by increasing the capacity and the completeness of supporting facilities and facilities for the LPG Terminal itself such as the berth wharf.

"The presence of the wayame LPG Terminal and the Jayapura LPG Terminal has changed the overall distribution pattern of LPG, where previously LPG cylinders were sent directly from Surabaya, now they are sent via ships with large capacities to secure stocks in the area. Then with the increase in ship berthing capacity at the Dumai LPG Terminal, shipments can be made all at once and this will affect shipping costs," Alfian said.
