President Jokowi Signs Presidential Instruction, Orders Government Vehicles to Be Changed to Electric

JAKARTADAILY.ID – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo signed Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 7/2022 concerning the use of electric vehicles as official vehicles for central and regional government agencies.

Through the Presidential Instruction, Jokowi ordered every minister to regional heads to prepare and establish regulations to support the acceleration of the implementation of the use of electric vehicles.

The Head of the Presidential Staff Office, Moeldoko, said Presidential Instruction Number 7/2022 was signed by President Jokowi on September 13, 2022. Moeldoko said the Presidential Instruction was a manifestation of President Jokowi's commitment to implementing the energy transition from fossil sources to new and renewable energy.

"To realize the grand design of the energy transition, the government begins by transitioning and converting conventional vehicles to electric vehicles," said Moeldoko in his statement, Thursday, September 15, 2022.

Meoldoko explained that Inpres Number 7/2022 is addressed to all ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, cabinet secretaries, presidential chiefs of staff, attorney general, TNI commanders, Indonesian police chiefs, heads of non-ministerial government institutions, secretarial leaders of state institutions, governors, and other government officials. regent/mayor.

Acording to him, President Jokowi also instructed the preparation of budget allocations to support the program. Moeldoko said that Presidential Instruction 7/2022 would be a big asset for Indonesia to become a global leader in the energy transition to a more advanced civilization.

"While other countries are competing to save the world from the threat of climate change, we should not only be spectators. We must be the main actors, and this Presidential Instruction gives the spirit to make that happen," he said.
