Three Best Architecture Designs Will Be Chosen Out of 246 Contestants for Indonensia's New Capital City

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The three best designs from the Regional Design and Building Concept competition in the new Capital City of Nusantara (IKN) will soon be announced to the public.

Director-General of Human Settlements, Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Diana Kusumastuti said the competition had entered the first stage and the determination of the 3 best works would be held from 6 to 10 June 2022.

"This competition is held in order to fill the urban design development which in 2019 we have held the competition. Later the winner of this competition will be determined by the Minister of PUPR," said Director General of Cipta Karya Diana Kusumastuti at the press conference of the IKN Design Competition in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Diana explained that this competition included designs for the Vice President's Palace Complex, Legislative Office Complex, Judicial Office Complex, and Worship Complex.

The three designs selected must meet the criteria for the area and building design concept at IKN Nusantara, including meeting the key performance indicators (KPI) related to buildings that have been set in the Urban Design Document for the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) – IKN.

"The design reflects the nation's identity in the interior and exterior design of the building, pays attention to the applicable regulations and provisions regarding State Buildings (BGN), applies the principle of green building, and applies the principle of building convenience," she explained.

The process of preparing this design work has been carried out for 40 days from April 23 to June 1, 2022. There are a total of 246 registrants as many as 79 participants who passed the verification. In this first stage, to determine the 3 best works, it will be held on 6-10 June 2022.

The jury consisted of 36 people consisting of practitioners, representatives of the Ministry of PUPR, representatives of the Indonesian Architects Council, representatives of the Indonesian Architects Association, academics, green building experts, the KIPP - IKN City design team, representatives of relevant agencies and representatives of community leaders.

The heads of each category are Gunawan Tjahjono for the Vice President's Palace Complex, Andi Siswanto for the Legislative Complex, Gregory Antar Awal for the Judiciary Complex, and Munichy B Edrees for the Worship Complex.
