Ahead of Eid Al-Fitr, One Million Houses Program Reaches 159,372 Units

JAKARTA, urbancity.id -- Ahead of this year's Eid al-Fitr, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) noted that the progress of the Million Houses Program (PSR) which is one of the national strategic programs has reached 159,372 units throughout Indonesia.

"From the data we have at the Directorate General of Housing, it was recorded that the progress of PSR as of March 31, 2022 was 159,372 housing units," said Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto, quoted from housing.pu.go.id, Wednesday, April 26,2022.

Iwan explained that his party is optimistic that the progress of the Million Houses Program will continue to increase in line with the situation and condition of the community after the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, the various policies taken by the government to encourage movement in the property sector are expected to be able to grow people's purchasing power.

The One Million Houses Program, he added, is one of the national strategic programs launched by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, in Central Java since 2015.

The One Million Houses Program is also an acceleration and collaboration movement between the government and housing development actors such as ministries/agencies, local governments, developers, banks, and the community in providing decent housing.

“The target for PSR development is to build at least one million housing units per year. Since it was launched in 2015 until 2021, the number of PSR achievements has reached 6,871,094 units," he explained.

From the data available at the Directorate General of Housing, Ministry of PUPR, the achievement of the One Million Houses Program as of March 31, 2022 was 159,372 units.

This figure comes from houses for low-income people (MBR) as many as 117,532 units or 74 percent and houses for non-MBR 41,840 units or 26 percent.

The construction of houses for low-income families is carried out by the Ministry of PUPR as many as 2,169 units, other Ministries 24 units, Regional Government 297 units, Developers 58,184 units, CSR Housing 10 units and the community 56,848 units.

While the construction of houses for non-MBR carried out by developers as many as 23,482 units and 18,358 units for the community.

"We hope that with this PSR, the community can also enjoy Eid al-Fitr in a livable home. We will also continue to strive to improve housing development so that people become more prosperous and have decent housing," he hoped.

For information, when it was launched in 2015, the PSR's achievement was 699,700 units. Furthermore, in 2016 the number increased to 805,169 units and in 2017 it jumped to 904,758 units.
