JAKARTADAILY.ID -- The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) is making efforts to accelerate the handling of extreme poverty in the country.

Handling is carried out through an integrated regional arrangement approach which will be carried out in stages in 514 districts/cities until 2024.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the PUPR Ministry's support for handling extreme poverty was carried out through integrated planning by the Regional Infrastructure Development Agency (BPIW) which was followed up by programs in the field of creative works and housing.

Data from the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) is the basis for sharpening the locus of handling extreme poverty to identify sub-districts to the village/ Urban village and Neighbourhood (RT)/ Hamlet (RW) levels.

"The BKKBN data contains information on 3 indicators related to PUPR infrastructure, namely access to main drinking water sources, access to sanitation, and uninhabitable houses (RTLH)," said the Minister of PUPR during a Working Meeting with Commission V DPR RI, in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 12 2022.

In 2022, the PUPR Ministry's support for extreme poverty handling covers 212 priority districts/cities through the regular Cash-in-Work (PKT) program in the Human Settlements/settlement sector consisting of the Provision of Drinking Water and Community-Based Sanitation (Pamsimas).

Then through the Community-Based Sanitation (Sanimas) program, Regional Socio-Economic Infrastructure Development (PISEW), City Without Slums (KOTAKU), plus the Housing sector program, namely Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS).

Previously, it had been gradually implemented in 35 priority regencies/cities in 2021 and it is targeted that by 2023-2024 it will be distributed nationally to 514 cities/regencies.

"Currently, we are investigating the readiness of the location/target and the type of handling that is planned for physical implementation starting in June 2022," said Minister Basuki.
