Indonesian Ministry of Trade Collaborates with Google to Strengthen Indonesia's Digital Economy Ecosystem

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Ministry of Trade is determined to strengthen the digital economy ecosystem in Indonesia. For this reason, the Ministry of Trade initiated a collaboration with Google Indonesia, including to encourage increased performance in digital trade, especially electronic commerce (e-commerce), and strengthen human resource (HR) capacity.

"In an effort to boost the performance of digital trade, especially e-commerce, it certainly requires concrete cooperation and collaboration with stakeholders such as Google Indonesia," said the Head of the Trade Policy Agency, Kasan during a meeting with Google Indonesia in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

In the event titled RAKIT, which is Designing Indonesia's Advancement in Digital Technology, Kasan said that the government, especially the Ministry of Trade, needs to work with Google as an international-scale information technology company in developing Indonesia's digital trade ecosystem. Google owns the digital economy 'big data' and has regularly released the e-Conomy SEA Report since 2016.

“This can be an important source of information for the government in making policy. Collaboration on the use of Google analysis tools, data, and reports, as well as training will be the focus of the Ministry of Trade in 2023," he said.

Kasan continued, cooperation in increasing HR capacity and using Google's technology and analytical tools is expected to support the Ministry of Trade, especially in producing policy formulations that are in line with trends and developments in digital trade.

"I appreciate Google Indonesia for this opportunity and hope that the information obtained by the participants can be implemented at the Ministry of Trade to encourage digital trade contributions and provide benefits for businesses, especially MSMEs," added Kasan.

In this activity, the Director of Government Relations and Public Policy of Google Indonesia Putri Alam welcomed the collaboration initiative of the Ministry of Trade with Google Indonesia.

The Google Indonesia program related to trade includes supporting the development of local businesses and MSMEs, as well as supporting research in the digital economy. It is hoped that through various programs, Google Indonesia can continue to collaborate with the government and the business world in order to increase business competitiveness in Indonesia.
