COVID Cases in China Reach Close to 60,000 After Loosening Lockdown Policy

However, not all of them believed in China's claims. University of Hong Kong epidemiologist Ben Cowling says the death toll from COVID-19 in China is actually higher than what Beijing is reporting. "The real death toll in China, as in every country, is almost certainly higher," he said.

Similarly, a virologist at the University of Hong Kong, Jin Dongyan hopes that China should provide reliable data compared to previous data. "I hope the Chinese government will be more transparent now," he said as quoted by the New York Times.

With cases of COVID-19 deaths in the communist country, several countries such as Japan, South Korea, the United States, and the European Union have tightened restrictions on people arriving from China. Along with the return of China's activities, it is better for many countries to return to their vigilance.
