Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan Ensures Prices Will Remain Stable for the Coming Holidays

JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan ensured that prices for staple goods are generally stable and stocks are secure for the coming christmas and new year's holiday.

The minister stated that together with several ministries and regional governments, they are keeping a close watch on the prices of staple goods so that inflation remain under control both regionally and nationally.

"I have made working visits to various regions to check the prices and supply of staple goods. In general, the prices of staple goods are stable and the supply is sufficient," said Zulkifli Hasan when he made a public appearance at Hotman Paris Hutapea’s Café, Johny's Coffee Shop, Jakarta, on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

Zulkifli Hasan ensured that staple goods will continue to be available. If there is a price fluctuation, the Indonesian government will immediately act by providing subsidies, both for the price and for logistics costs.

"The government guarantees the availability of basic goods and if there is a price increase, it will be directly subsidized through the Regional Government," Zulkifli Hasan added.

Zulkifli Hasan also received several complaints from the public. Among them is related to the management of import permits for horticultural products.

Zulkifli Hasan asked importers to fulfill the requirements according to regulations and prioritize the import of commodities that cannot be produced domestically.
