JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita asked electric vehicle manufacturers to continue to optimize the use of domestic components so that it will directly increase the value of domestic components (TKDN).
"Optimizing the value of local components can increase the market potential of vehicles issued by Presidential Instruction No. 7 of 2022," said Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita during a working visit at PT Triangle Motorindo (VIAR Motor) in Semarang, Central Java, Friday, October 14, 2022.
Agus said this effort was also in accordance with the mandate of the Minister of Industry Regulation Number 6 of 2022 concerning Specifications, Development Roadmaps, and Provisions for the Calculation of Domestic Component Level Values for Battery-Based Electric Vehicles.
"Thus, electric vehicles that have met the minimum TKDN requirements according to Presidential Regulation 55 of 2019 can fill requests for a government official and operational vehicles according to Presidential Instruction 7/2022," he explained.
General Manager of VIAR Motor Dimas Tommy Radityo said VIAR Motor as an Indonesian product can be accepted by the wider community in Indonesia.
According to him, in terms of quality, domestic products can actually compete with foreign products. However, what is needed for domestic products is real support from the government, to help instill community pride in using domestic products.

“Triangle Motorindo is currently producing two-wheeled vehicles using both gasoline and battery-based (EV) engines, and three-wheeled motorcycles for transporting goods with MSMEs and agriculture business actors. Currently, we understand with the local Small and Medium Industries (IKM) of Central Java to be part of our supply chain in order to increase the content of TKDN. We hope there will be alignments," he said.
Regarding electric vehicles, specifically two-wheeled vehicles, President Joko Widodo has set a target to achieve production of two million units by 2025.
The Indonesian Ministry of Industry is optimistic that this target can be achieved in the near future because the production capacity of electric motorcycles from 35 electric vehicle manufacturers has reached one million units per year.
