BPJS Employment Partners with Lazada Logistics to Protect Thousands of Courier Partners

JAKARTADAILY.ID – BPJS Employment (BP Jamsostek) and Lazada Logistics, the logistics business unit of Lazada Indonesia, collaborated to provide employment and social security protection for Lazada Logistics courier partners. 

BP Jamsostek announced that it had signed a cooperation agreement (PKS) between the Head of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Jakarta Mampang Branch Ivan Sahat H. Panjaitan and Lazada Indonesia Chief Logistic Officer Philippe Auberger on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

The signing of the PKS was carried out at the Lazada Warehouse, Cimanggis, Depok, and witnessed directly by the Deputy Director of the DKI Jakarta Employment BPJS Region, Eko Nugriyanto.

On this occasion, Eko Nugriyanto also symbolically handed over the membership card to representatives of Lazada Logistics courier partners.

"BP Jamsostek's collaboration with Lazada Logistics in signing the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) today is a positive step.

The purpose and objective of this PKS are to encourage and increase awareness and provide employment social security protection for Lazada Logistics courier partners in the Non-Wage Recipient Program (BPU) segment by utilizing and synergizing all available resources," said Ivan Sahat in a joint press release on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

Package delivery couriers are at the forefront of the logistics delivery service business line.

During the pandemic, they are essential workers who make life easier for many people, and courier partners are part of the informal workers who also have the right to be protected by employment social security.

According to BP Jamsostek, couriers are a profession that also carries a high risk, because they have to fight tooth and nail on the highway and often require medical treatment due to injuries or injuries due to traffic accidents (work accidents).

Couriers are also vulnerable to socio-economic risks that result in loss of income due to work accidents, job losses, illness, old age, and death.

"Courier partners are one of the main stakeholders in Lazada Logistics and we have long been committed to protecting and always paying attention to their welfare," said Philippe of Lazada Logistics in the joint official statement.
