JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, stated that the restructuring and transformation carried out by the Indonesian national airline Garuda Indonesia in the last two months had gone as expected.

This was revealed by Erick after attending a coordination meeting at the office of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy.

"It's on the track, but the next steps must be monitored so that Garuda can fly high again," said SOE Minister Erick Thohir in a press release on Friday, August 11, 2022.

"Although there is still a long way to go, these temporary results encourage us and Garuda to continue to carry out the next stage of transformation," added Erick.

In addition to appreciating the support of the Ministry of Finance which has injected Rp 7.5 trillion as State Capital Participation (PMN), Erick also appreciates the hard work that has been done by the company.

"I appreciate the performance of all employees and management who have contributed to posting positive profits in the last two months, after all this time struggling in bankruptcy conditions," he said.

In the midst of an uncertain global situation, domestic flights are promising because Indonesia is a fairly large archipelagic country and has a population of more than 275 million.

Therefore, Garuda as the airline of the pride of the Indonesian nation, which is 75 years old, must improve its performance and leave the old patterns that made the company bankrupt.

“The domestic flight business is quite promising as long as it is managed professionally. As an archipelagic country, we must continue to encourage the growth of cities outside Java as new economic centers so that development is more equitable," said Erick.
