JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Indonesian government has taken strategic steps to stabilize the price of cooking oil in the community.
Through the Ministry of Trade, the government regulates the governance of the People's Bulk Cooking Oil Program (MGCR) in the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) No. No. 33 of 2022.
Head of the Trade Assessment and Development Agency, Ministry of Trade, Dr. Kasan said the MGCR program was implemented in order to provide bulk cooking oil according to the Highest Retail Price (HET) set to the public.
With this policy, bulk cooking oil is set at Rp. 14,000 per liter and Rp. 15,500/kg.
"Of course, the purpose of this program is to optimize the distribution of bulk cooking oil at prices according to HET, so that it can be accessed by people throughout Indonesia," Kasan said in an online discussion themed "Reset Palm Oil Governance", Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
Kasan said that in its implementation, the MGCR program involved various parties. Starting from CPO producers, cooking oil producers, logistics and retail service businesses, and retailers to distributors, and exporters.
Kasan hopes that this program will receive support from the community. So that the stock of bulk cooking oil in the community is always available with the highest retail price (HET) that has been set.
“The MGCR program is part of the revival of export activities for palm oil production. Where this will have a positive impact on the rise of the national economy and contribute to the country," he said.
The MGCR program is also a way to get incentives for exporters of CPO and its derivative products. According to Kasan, through this program, the Ministry of Trade will give approval for business actors to carry out export activities.
The key is that they take their commitments in this program seriously.
"For business actors who participate in the distribution program or distribution of people's bulk cooking oil, and of course, it is validated through our system, both physically and electronically through export submissions and exporting," he explained.
