JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) assesses that investor confidence in the Indonesian capital market is getting higher with the solid regulation and supervision that has been carried out.

The growth in the number of investors in the Capital Market continues to increase significantly during the pandemic.

OJK Capital Market Supervisory Chief Executive Hoesen said that by the end of April 2022, nationally the number of retail investors in the Capital Market had reached 8.62 million, or an increase of 15.11 percent (ytd) compared to the position of December 30, 2021.

"The growth in the number of retail investors is also still dominated by millennials or under the age of 30, amounting to 60.29 percent of the total number of investors," said Hoesen at the Capital Market Seminar with the theme "Capital Market as an Investment Choice" held in Surabaya, Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

Hoesen also advised that every public in investing in the Capital Market needs to first study and understand all forms of products and the legality of licensing from those who offer them.

“The public needs to be aware of all forms of fraudulent or illegal investments that often seduce or promise unreasonable returns. In addition, the public is also advised that in investing, they must use sources of funds other than basic needs and reserve funds, and do not use loans, especially illegal online loans," Hoesen continued.

The seminar is part of a series of Socialization and Education for the Integrated Capital Market (SEPMT) 2022 in East Java for 3 (three) days  May 23 to 25, 2022. This activity was organized by OJK together with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), associations, and associations, as well as other stakeholders.

East Java was chosen as the first province to hold the SEPMT program in 2022 because of the huge potential of Issuers and investors that can still be explored and optimized, either through the use of the Capital Market as an alternative source of business funding, as well as a safe, comfortable, and reliable place to invest.
