JAKARTADAILY.ID – Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that the World Economic Forum (WEF) supports Indonesia in lifting the ban on exports of CPO and cooking oil raw materials.
This was conveyed by Minister Agus after meeting with the President of WEF, Børge Brende in Davos, Switzerland on Sunday, May 22, 2022, local time.
"The WEF President expressed his opinion on the importance of food security and his opinion on the protection of food raw materials," said the Minister of Industry in a statement published on Monday, May 23, 2022.
Minister of Industry Agus said that the meeting also discussed efforts to achieve the net-zero carbon emissions target carried out by Indonesia.
"The WEF President said that Indonesia's great potential to develop renewable energy needs to be pushed harder, even though a large budget is needed to substitute fossil energy for renewable energy," explained the Minister of Industry.
In addition, the meeting also discussed Indonesia's plan to develop the National Capital City (IKN).
The WEF President supports this as an effort to equalize the economy. According to Minister Agus, WEF also views Indonesia as very successful in reducing the Gini ratio, which is an indicator of the level of inequality in society.
"We also invite forums to collaborate in an inclusive global economic recovery effort," said Agus.
Global economic recovery efforts are related to the Global Risk Report 2022 World Economic Forum which reports that around 84.2 percent of respondents are worried about the future direction of the world.
In the G20 Presidency, Indonesia seeks to ensure the important role of the G20 in overcoming these concerns by becoming a catalyst for an inclusive global economic recovery.
