Indonesian Minister of Transportation Asks Boeing to Fulfill Airline Needs in the Country

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Indonesian government has asked Boeing to meet the needs of aircraft in Indonesia in line with the improvement in the aviation industry.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the need for aircraft in Indonesia to serve domestic flights is increasing this year, especially during the Eid Al Fitr homecoming period this year.

 "Therefore, I ask Boeing to communicate with a number of national airlines regarding efforts to meet the needs of these aircraft," said Minister of Transportation Budi when meeting Boeing International President Michael A. Arthur Changi Aviation Summit 2022 in Singapore, Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Minister of Transportation Budi said that the fulfillment of aircraft needs was mainly aimed at small regional routes which had been experiencing problems with the absence of flights.

"We want in the future there will be no more areas that are not served by flights," he said.

The meeting with the President of Boeing International was used by Minister Budi to provide information that the Indonesian government had made efforts to revive the aviation industry, both nationally and globally, which had been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, the Minister of Transportation also discussed opportunities for cooperation in providing flight simulator equipment to complement the facilities at aviation vocational schools managed by the Ministry of Transportation.
