JAKARTADAILY.ID - The Denpasar Police has exposed a cottage industry that produced cookies made from a new type of Narcotics on Ida Bagus Oka Street, Pasatimpo Alley No. 9, Panjer, Denpasar, Bali.
The police arrested a suspect named Emanuel Chaesar Bagaskara, who was convicted of a Narcotics offense in 2018.
“From the suspect, it was found two [kinds of] powders, one is yellow, and the other is cream-colored comprising class I Narcotics,” said Denpasar Police Chief AKBP Bambang Yugo Pamungkas during a press conference at the crime scene area of South Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday, April 6, 2022.
Yugo explained the cookies were produced using typical cookie ingredients, from the batter to the cookie cutters.
“All ingredients used by the suspect to create the Narcotics-filled cookie are suspected to be sent from overseas. This is the first time the sale of Narcotics through cookies has been found in Denpasar, Bali. After consuming the cookies, one [would feel] like floating,” Bambang said.
The Narcotics found in the cookies were found to be 4en-pentyl MDA-19 and ADB-FUBIATA, suspected to be imported from China. Police Commissioner Imam Mahmudi, Head of the Denpasar Forensic Laboratory Drugs Unit, said the yellow and cream powder were tested with the Fourier Transform Infra-Red. Organic compounds were found in the substances.
Then the yellow powder was tested with Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectroscopy. The result shows it contains 4en-pentyl MDA-19 and a minor amount of other components.
The cream-colored powder was also tested with the GCMS, and the result was it contained ADB-FUBIATA and other minor components.
“ADB-FUBIATA in the delivery package was actually Cannabidiol (CBD) which is a marijuana derivative. With the package suspected to come from China, it shows that there is a new type of narcotic coming to Indonesia through Bali,” he said as quoted by Antara.
Meanwhile, the suspect was caught by the police at Tukad Musi Renon Street, South Denpasar, on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 19:00 WIB when he placed the package on the side of the road.
The police then investigated further. The suspect finally admitted to having cookies containing Narcotics readily available and stored in his residence.
From the search, the police confiscated evidence of 19 pieces of cream-colored cookies with a net weight of 26.97 grams, one plastic clip containing yellow powder weighing 14.94 grams, one plastic clip containing cream-colored powder, a net weight of 1.68 grams, one electric scales, a gas stove, a glass, liquid vape bottles and more.
