JAKARTADAILY.ID - The Ministry of Industry has been urged to continue pursuing companies that are yet to register themselves as bulk cooking oil providers.

The request was conveyed by a member of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representative (DPR RI), Mulyanto, in his statement on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

"Don't let them delay registration as a provider and distributor of bulk cooking oil, which is mandatory, for reasons of complicated registration procedures or seeking subsidy funds," said Mulyanto.

According to him, this is also considering that the highest retail price (HET) for bulk cooking oil has been in effect since March 16, 2022.

For that, Mulyanto urged the Minister of Industry (Menperin) to take legal steps to pursue and seek out companies that deliberately evade the policy.

He said that the government has so far given in to cooking oil entrepreneurs. So, according to Mulyanto, there is no longer any reason to implement policies that are fair to the community.

Mulyanto then urged not to let any company stall their registrations any longer, especially as Ramadan 2022 is fast approaching.

On that occasion, he revealed that based on the data submitted by the Ministry of Industry, there are approximately 104 cooking oil factories in Indonesia, while the target is only around 81 factories with a supply obligation of 14 thousand tons per day.

But until now, he pointed out, only 47 factories have registered or only 50 percent of the target with an estimated supply of 9 thousand tons per day.

In addition, the national demand for bulk cooking oil is only 7 thousand tons per day, or in the month of Ramadan 2022, the demand will increase to 11 thousand to 12 thousand tons per day.

"So if we look at these numbers, it seems okay. Production exceeds consumption. But the fact is that to this day, bulk cooking oil is still scarce, and the price is above the Highest Retail Price, which is Rp 14,000 per liter, after the stipulation of Minister of Trade Regulation No.11/2022 dated March 16, 2022," he said, as quoted by Pikiran-Rakyat.com from Antara.

Mulyanto also urged the Minister of Industry to form a Bulk Cooking Oil Supervisory Team as mandated by Minister of Industry No. 8 of 2022.

In addition, the Minister of Industry was also asked to immediately assign a team to supervise the production and distribution of bulk cooking oil from distributors to retailers.
