JAKARTADAILY.ID - Digital literacy and digital talent are one of the three priority issues of the G20 Indonesia 2022 presidency. The G20 recognizes the need to work together to create a digital-people-connectivity network.
This is important to further help business actors and digital business players to remain innovative and prosperous in this era of digital economic expansion.
As a bank that continues to carry out digital transformation, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI takes the initiative to explore the potential of Indonesia's digital talents in the fields of data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning through the BRIBRAIN Academy.
This is carried out in collaboration with various research institutions, universities, and communities.
Director of Digital and Information Technology of BRI, Indra Utoyo, said that BRIBRAIN is one of BRI's AI-based brain centers. BRIBRAIN Academy, he said, was presented as a comprehensive program to develop initiatives and cultivate AI talent. They will receive provision and functions of leadership, R&D, support, and training.
"It is hoped that through collaboration with various parties, BRI can develop BRIBRAIN capabilities through the creation of value-driven innovations, training and preparing a talent pool in the field of AI as well as enriching the diversity of BRI's data," he said.
BRIBRAIN Academy provides an open sandbox so that AI talents and collaboration partners can try data processing to create models using real financial use cases from BRI.
The existence of the BRIBRAIN Academy will also further strengthen BRI's digital capabilities, such as by increasing risk management excellence and cybersecurity through credit scoring to fraud and risk analytics.
The collaboration is done through the holding of the 2022 Financial Data Challenge competition with PT Sharing Vision.
The competition opens up opportunities for all, from students to Data Science and AI practitioners, to have the chance to work at BRI and build AI capabilities for the financial industry.
Founder of Expert Sharing Vision and STEI ITB lecturer, Dimitri Mahayana, said that BRI has become a leader in the banking industry in developing AI/ML.
"BRI continues to improve financial services so that this activity is important to be followed by AI talents from various walks of life throughout Indonesia," he said.
Participants were also then asked to build a model that covers data analysis to evaluation based on the dataset provided. Starting on February 14, 2022, this competition can be participated by all Data Science and AI practitioners from all over Indonesia. As a hybrid bank, BRI has so far combined the strength of a physical network supported by more than 9,000 branch offices, e-channels, and more than 500,000 BRILink agents. This strength is supported by digital capabilities that have grown rapidly in the five years of BRI's digital transformation journey.
