JAKARTADAILY.ID – State utility company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) will develop 40 units of electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) this year with a total investment of Rp 55 billion, PLN Commercial and Consumers Director Bob Saril said on Tuesday.

He added that besides the Rp 55 billion investment by PLN alone, the company is also seeking to develop additional SPKLU units by partnering with the private sector under various schemes of development.

"The Rp 55 billion investment is only by PLN alone. So far, we’ve installed 114 units of SPKLU. But we’re seeking to add more SPKLU units by partnering with the private sector under various schemes of cooperation," he said.

He said that the private sector can get potential benefits from such partnerships. One of the potential benefits is the scheme of bulk tariff.

"There is a bulk tariff incentive of Rp 714 per kWh for SPKLU operator with a maximum sale tariff of Rp 2,467 per kWh," he said.

According to him, PLN has also partnered with a number of car brand-holder agents (APM) to provide free services of installing charging facilities in the houses of consumers who purchase electric vehicles.

"In addition to that, we’re also seeking partnerships with owners of shopping centers and apartments to develop other SPKLU units," he said.

He noted that PLN will involve in a number of international events, which include the G20 summit later this year. "During the G20 summit, all vehicles used will be only electric vehicles. We’ll develop the supporting infrastructure for the use of electric vehicles," he said. (*)
