JAKARTADAILY.ID - PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) reported that Indonesia’s electricity consumption during the period between January – November 2021 reached a total of 232.54 TeraWatt hour (TWh), which increased by 4.81 percent as compared to that of the same period in 2020.
Agung Murdifi, PLN Executive Vice President for CSR and Corporate Communication, said that during the period of January – November 2021 the national electricity consumption was still dominated by households as the industrial and commercial sectors were still dampened by the impact of Covid-19 containment measures that had reduced demands.
“The households have become the largest market segment with a total power consumption of 106.44 TWh, if compared to other segments of power consumption during the last 11 months of 2021,” Agung told Kontan.co.id recently.
The second-largest segment was the industrial segment with a total consumption of 72.65 TWh, followed by the commercial segment at 37.95 TWh, the public segment at 7.46 TWh, the social segment at 7.82 TWh, and other segments at 1.8 TWh.
PLN projected that the national power consumption during the whole year of 2021 will be higher than the total realized power consumption in 2020.
“We predict that our total sales until the end of this year will amount to 252 TWh or an increase of 4.7% compared to that of last year,” said Agung. (*)
