The Presidential and Vice Presidential Palaced at IKN Are To Be Separated

JAKARTADAILY.ID - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, or PUPR revealed that the Presidential and Vice Presidential Palaces in Nusantara Capital City or IKN would be separated for enhanced security.

Through the Directorate General of Human Settlements, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing explained that the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Palaces' separation is a form of enhanced security in case of danger at any time.

"Why are the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Palaces separated at IKN? This is a stipulation. Suppose the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Palaces are merged. When there is danger, the two palaces could be threatened," said Director General of Human Settlements Diana Kusumastuti at an online press conference in Jakarta as quoted from Antara, Saturday, March 26, 2022.

"Thus, the separation of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Palaces is due to security reasons," she said.

Furthermore, the PUPR Ministry had previously discussed the palaces' separation with the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan).

"The functions are indeed needed to be separated for security reasons," she said

For this reason, the Ministry of PUPR has officially announced a design competition for the concept areas and buildings of IKN, one of which is for the RI Vice President's Palace complex.

Being separated from the Presidential Palace, the Vice President's Palace at IKN will site on 14.8 hectares of land.

Previously, the Ministry of PUPR had encouraged the public to be involved in IKN's development.

Thus, the regional design and building concepts competition at IKN aim to invite the public to be involved in the construction planning process for IKN to get the best setup.
