JAKARTADAILY.ID - The Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, has asked for everyone's support on the capital relocation or IKN project to East Kalimantan.
According to Tito, the capital relocation has stood on a clear legal law and needs to resume the process.
Before this, the law of IKN was passed through the House of Representatives on January 18th, 2022.
"There is a law and legal standing (of the project), the Government Regulations (PP) are also soon to be issued," he explained.
"We should be optimistic, the show must go on," added the former Chief of the Indonesian National Police.
Tito expects this project will get support from leaders of various regions, including the future president of 2024.
"We hope later whomever is elected for the 2024 Presidential Election, is the one who supports the IKN," Tito said, quoted on February 16, 2022.
Prior to this, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has revealed the motivation of this project.
Jokowi disagrees if capital relocation is seen as merely government offices relocation.
"The construction of the nation's capital city to East Kalimantan is an important part of the transformation (the government offices relocation), but it's not solely for moving the government offices to a new place," said Jokowi in his speech in the Presidential Palace on Saturday, January 29, 2022.
The capital relocation is also an effort to create a more inclusive and fair social life, added Jokowi.
"Relocating the capital city means shifting the established working system, the mindset, to apply a modern economy and to build a more fair and inclusive social life," he expressed.
"IKN will be our transformation in the environment, ways of working, economy, technology, etc including the improvement of quality on the health and services sector," Jokowi concluded.
