JAKARTADAILY.ID - The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto lauded the Indonesian military (TNI) and National Police (Polri) for their work in maintaining national stability and helping the government focus on optimizing national growth.

Additionally, Airlangga pledged that his ministry will continue to cooperate with these security forces.

The Indonesian economy saw a growth of 5.01 percent year on year as of the fourth quarter of 2022. Furthermore, the national economy saw a growth of 5.31 percent, marking the highest on record during Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's presidency.

"This economic growth was achieved due to the conducive political and economic situation as well as good security, so (we) laud the TNI and Polri. Because of good political stability, the economy keeps advancing," the coordinating minister said at the “2023 TNI-Polri Command Meeting” on Wednesday as quoted by Antara.

Indonesia currently faces economic challenges with multifaceted risks after shifting focus from the COVID-19 pandemic, including risks of economic stagnation and inflation, making economic performance forecasts unpredictable.

Regulations are expected to mitigate the risk of economic stagnation and inflation, especially if Indonesia implements precise fiscal and monetary policies with the Financial Sector Development and Reinforcement Law, Government Regulations, and export proceeds (DHE).

Antara reports that the regulations are also expected to provide legal certainty in the midst of the uncertain global economic situation since they are the pillar to strengthen economic growth, job creation, as well as financial and exchange rate stability.

In addition, Indonesia is the chair of ASEAN for 2023. Its chairmanship is themed "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth" to reflect ASEAN's important role in global geopolitical dynamics.

Hence, support from the TNI and Polri is also required to maintain security for the implementation of the series of ASEAN chairmanship activities.

"Strong coordination between the government and all stakeholders, including the TNI and Polri, has become essential for supporting the acceleration of the post-pandemic economic recovery and national development agenda,” Hartarto told Antara.

He then invited all parties to increase synergy and cooperation to realize the vision of Advanced Indonesia to improve people’s welfare.
