OJK Meets with the Indonesian Vice President and Attorney General to Strengthen Policy Synergy

JAKARTADAILY.ID – Members of the The Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) Board of Commissioners who were newly inaugurated on July 20, 2022, held a separate meeting with Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and Indonesian Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin to further strengthen the synergy between OJK policies and the Government.

In a meeting at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta, the Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Mahendra Siregar, reported on various OJK priority policies, among others, to encourage the growth of the Islamic financial services industry to be stronger and more competitive.

"We conveyed various OJK policies in the financial services sector, both from a prudent perspective and market conduct," Mahendra said in a press statement quoted on Saturday, August 6, 2022.

According to Mahendra, the Vice President conveyed the importance of supervision of the financial services industry in the midst of a challenging global economic situation. The vice president also asked OJK to pay special attention to sharia-based financial sectors or businesses, including Islamic boarding schools so that their role can be felt directly by the public and parties who need financial inclusion support.

The Vice President also conveyed the commitment of OJK  Board of Commissioners 2022-2027 to build stronger synergies with all economic actors and also policy makers in the Government and strengthen the national economy.

OJK - Attorney General's Office Collaboration

Meanwhile, in a meeting with the Attorney General at the Indonesian Attorney General's Office Building in Jakarta, the OJK Board of Commissioners also conveyed its commitment in increasing OJK's cooperation and synergy with the Indonesian Attorney General's Office, especially in dealing with various legal issues in the financial services industry.

Mahendra said the Attorney General welcomed the OJK's intention to improve coordination and closer cooperation to oversee the condition of Indonesia's economic and financial stability.

OJK also expressed its support for the legal process of a number of cases in the financial services industry that is being carried out by the Attorney General's Office.

“Credible law enforcement will increase the trust and integrity of the financial services sector. This will certainly have a major impact on the stability of the financial services sector and the national economy as a whole,” said Mahendra.
