Indonesian Ministry of Trade Voices Support for Law Enforcement in Cooking Oil Export Graft Case

JAKARTADAILY.ID - Ministry of Trade Secretary-General Suhanto has voiced his commitment to support every law enforcement effort related to allegations of gratification pertaining to the export of cooking oil revealed by the Attorney General's Office.

Suhanto emphasized that the Ministry of Trade would support the process as per its procedure. "Export licensing services run normally and are not disturbed by the ongoing legal process," said Suhanto on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.

"The Ministry of Trade will support the law enforcement process by applicable procedures, laws, and regulations," he added.

On the same occasion, he also conveyed the order of the Minister of Trade, Muhammad Lutfi. "From the start, the Minister of Trade had asked all his staff to be committed to avoiding all forms of abuse of authority and be proactive in taking action against procedural violations," said Suhanto, as quoted by Antara.

According to Suhanto, the Minister of Trade has instructed all officials within the ministry to provide maximum and transparent services.

In addition, the Minister of Trade also urged its employees to carry out their duties by the prevailing laws and regulations and to put forward the general principles of good and correct governance.

In the alleged gratification case of the issuance of approvals on the palm oil export for 2021-2022, the Attorney General's Office has increased the case status from preliminary investigation to full investigation.

It was reported that two companies did not comply with the requirements and procedures but instead received export approval.

Suhanto also emphasized that the public in general and especially law enforcement officers are hoped to continue to prioritize the presumption of innocence.
