JHT Rules to be Revised, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah: 'Mr. President is Very Considerate of the Workers'

JAKARTADAILY.ID - After multiple objections and rejections from workers/laborers and various other elements of society, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah stated that her party would revise the implementation of the Pension Plan or JHT program.

The refusal concerns mainly lay on the limitation that JHT benefits can only be withdrawn after a worker/laborer is 56 years old.

The Regulation of the Ministry of Manpower Number 2 of 2022 concerning Procedures and Requirements for Payment of Old Age Security Benefits is responsible for regulating such enforcement.

"Earlier, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and I met with the president. In response to our report, the president gave directions for us to simplify the regulations [regarding JHT]," said Ida Fauziyah in a press release by the Ministry of Manpower's Public Relations Bureau, Monday, February 21, 2022.

The minister explained that after Permenaker No. 2 of 2022 was introduced to the public, the government understood the arisen objections from the workers/laborers.

Therefore, the president gave directions and instructions to simplify the rules on JHT. Thus, the JHT's existence can help affected workers/laborers, especially those laid off during this pandemic.

"Mr. President is very considerate of the workers/laborers and asked all of us to mitigate [the law's perceived harms] and help them who have been affected by the pandemics," said Ida.

The minister added that in his directive, President Jokowi also hoped that a more straightforward JHT claim procedure could create a conducive employment climate.

"Mr. President also asked all of us, including the administration, businesspeople, and fellow workers/laborers, to jointly create a conducive employment climate to encourage national competitiveness," she said.
