Kuat Maruf Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison, More Than What Was Proposed by the Public Prosecutors

JAKARTADAILY.ID - Kuat Maruf was sentenced to imprisonment for 15 years.

The decision was stated by the Panel of Judges at the South Jakarta District Court led by Chief Judge Wahyu Iman Santoso.

The decision of the Panel of Judges for the South Jakarta District Court is heavier than the demand for a criminal sentence of 8 years in prison proposed by the public prosecutor (JPU).

“Sentenced a sentence against the defendant Kuat Ma'ruf for 15 years,” said Chief Judge Wahyu Iman Santoso at the South Jakarta District Court, as reported by PMJ News, Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

Maruf was legally charged with being involved in the case of the disappearance of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat alias Brigadier J at the official residence of the Duren Tiga Police Complex no. 46 on July 8, 2022.

Kuat Maruf is one of five other defendants convicted by the Panel of Judges in the murder case of Brigadier J.

The other four defendants involved in taking Brigadier J's life were Ferdy Sambo, Putri Candrawathi, Richard Eliezer alias Bharada E, and Ricky Rizal.

The five defendants were charged with violating Article 340 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.

In addition to the charges against Ferdy Sambo, the panel of judges stated their decision that Ferdy Sambo had also violated Article 49 in conjunction with Article 33 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.
