JAKARTADAILY.ID - IPW assesses that Ferdy Sambo's death sentence was due to massive public pressure. Sambo still has the chance to get a lower verdict at the next trial stage.
The chairman of the Indonesia Police Watch (IPW), Sugeng Teguh Santoso, commented on the death penalty verdict for the South Jakarta District Court Judges to Ferdy Sambo.
Sugeng Teguh Santoso regretted that the judges' attitude did not include mitigating elements for the defendant Ferdy Sambo.

However, Sugeng continues to respect the decision agreed upon by the Panel of Judges at the South Jakarta District Court.
Sugeng assessed that the decision of the panel of judges which did not include elements of mitigating the defendant Ferdy Sambo had the potential to create new problems within the Police.
According to him, Ferdy Sambo's performance and achievements while serving at the Polri institution were elements that could lighten up.
"The decision of the panel of judges does not include mitigating circumstances," said Sugeng, Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
In fact, he continued, these facts exist, such as being polite, having never been punished, having devotion, and having achievements while in office.
IPW even considered that Ferdy Sambo's crime did not deserve the death penalty.
IPW views the crime as cruel, but not sadistic.
According to IPW, Ferdy Sambo's crime was not a type of sadistic crime, but his crime arose because it was out of control.
