Indonesian National Police: Security Operation for Christmas Celebration at 41,792 Churches Runs Successfully

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Indonesian National Police said that the security for the 2022 Christmas celebrations in tens of thousands of churches throughout Indonesia was safe and conducive. Security for this Christmas celebration is carried out on the ‘Lilin’ Operation 2022 agenda.

"Alhamdulillah, Christmas security has gone well, worship activities at 41,792 churches have been secured by 100,218 preventive task forces, who have been placed at 1,868 National Police Command Posts," said Assistant Chief of Police for Operations, Police Inspector General Agung Setya Effendi to reporters, Monday, December 26, 2022.

Agung continues, during the ‘Lilin’ Operation this year, the Police noted an increase in traffic out of Jakarta. Even so, inflows to Jakarta also increased by 6.03 percent.

"Traffic flows smoothly even though there is an increase in outflows from Jakarta by 17.6 percent. There has been an increase in the flow of traffic in and out of Jakarta," he explained.

Agung also explained that since the first day of Operation Lilin 2022, there have been 459 traffic accidents.

The accidents that occurred were 459, most of them occurred in the province of East Java with 269 accidents," he said.

With so many accidents, the National Police appealed to the public to follow the directions of the transportation authority. This is because rainfall is still relatively high in almost all regions of Indonesia.
