JAKARTADAILY.ID – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has officially appointed Admiral Yudo Margono as Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
In his directives, the President asked the TNI Commander, Admiral Yudo Margono, to be more assertive in dealing with the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua Province.
"I think both the humanist approach is good, the reduction of TNI soldiers in Papua is good, but you have to be firm there that the KKB always does that, it won't solve the problem," said President Jokowi when giving directions to Yudo Margono after being sworn in at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, Monday 19 December 2022.
In addition, Jokowi said he had conveyed several messages to TNI Commander Yudo Margono who replaced General Andika Perkasa. "I have ordered, first to protect the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
Jokowi further said, the second message conveyed to Yudo Margono was to maintain unity and oneness. Even the TNI Commander was also asked to increase public trust in the TNI.
"Second, maintaining our unity and integrity. Then also, maintaining and increasing public trust in the TNI, which is now the highest. This trust must be maintained continuously with professionalism within the TNI which must continue to be improved," he explained.

Jokowi added that with regard to the political year or the 2024 Election, the TNI Commander must always maintain TNI neutrality and stay away from practical politics. "In order to maintain the neutrality of the TNI so that it doesn't get pulled into practical politics," he ordered.
"The importance of the synergy between the TNI and Indonesian National Police (Polri) in maintaining the conduciveness of our country, because political stability and security stability are important in the framework of national development, our economic development, in an uncertain situation due to global uncertainty," he said.
