Indonesian Ministry of Manpower Thwarts 63 Illegal Migrant Workers from Going to Saudi Arabia

JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian Ministry of Manpower succeeded in thwarting 63 Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who were to be placed non-procedurally in Saudi Arabia.

This was after the Ministry of Manpower team carried out an unannounced inspection at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten on Thursday, December 15, 2022.

"The inspections carried out by fellow Labor Inspectors managed to thwart as many as 63 non-procedural PMIs. These PMIs will be assigned to Saudi Arabia," said the Director General of Supervision of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health, Haiyani Rumondang in a written statement, quoted Friday, December 16, 2022.

Haiyani stated that he had asked the Labor inspectorate to thoroughly investigate the parties involved in the non-procedural placement of PMI, both Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Companies (P3MI) and individuals.

His party will also continue to coordinate with related Ministries/Institutions and the Regional Government for handling it.

"The Ministry of Manpower will not hesitate to take firm action against perpetrators who place migrant workers in an unprocedural manner," said Haiyani.

The Director for Inspection of Employment Norms of the Ministry of Manpower, Yuli Adiratna added, The inspection that was carried out today was an expansion of the inspection that was carried out on October 17, 2022, which succeeded in thwarting 38 PMI who were going to go to the Middle East.

"We certainly continue to monitor PMI placements, both by P3MI and individuals because we want no more PMI placements to be placed non-procedurally," said Yuli.
