JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian President Joko Widodo appointed Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Yudo Margono (KSAL) as the sole candidate for TNI Commander to replace General Andika Perkasa, according to an announcement by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Parliament, Puan Maharani.
"I will announce that the name proposed by the president to replace TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa is TNI Admiral Yudo Margono, who is currently serving as Chief of Naval Staff," Puan said at a press conference at the House of Representatives (DPR) Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, November 28, 2022.

According to Kompas, Yudo Margono confirmed that he has been appointed as a candidate for TNI commander to replace TNI General Andika Perkasa whose term will end in December 2022 and enter retirement in January 2023.
However, Yudo said that he does not want to speculate about his future post. He added that he wants to focus first on the fit and proper test at Commission I of the House of Representatives.
"I don't want to make assumptions before the fit and proper test. After that, we will announce it to media friends," Yudo Margono told Kompas when they met in Lebak Regency, Banten Province, on November 24, 2022.

Previously, information regarding the appointment of KSAL Admiral Yudo Margono as the sole candidate for TNI Commander to replace General Andika Perkasa was stated by TB Hasanuddin, a member of Commission I of the House of Representatives.
"I received information that the person appointed was KSAL (Chief of Naval Staff)," he said at the House of Representatives Building, Jakarta, as quoted by PMJnews on Monday, November 28, 2022.
Hasanuddin stated that Yudo will be undergoing a fit and proper test on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, after receiving a letter from the president.

Additionally, the House of Representatives will be ratifying the decision based on the test during a plenary meeting scheduled for Thursday, December 1, 2022.
The Presidential Letter regarding the replacement of the TNI Commander was issued by the DPR on Monday, November 28, 2022. According to the House of Representatives' Secretary General Indra Iskandar, State Secretary Pratikno sent it to the House on Monday afternoon.
