JAKARTADAILY.ID – Rescue teams from the Indonesian army and National Police discovered five bodies buried under a landslide caused by the Cianjur earthquake, among them was a mother tightly clutching her child.
The five bodies were discovered at the at the Cijedil Village in Cianjur, West Java.
"Two of the five bodies found were a mother and child who were hugging when the team found them," said Head of Police Public Relations Division, Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo in an official statement in Cianjur on Friday, November 25, 2022.

Dedi explained that finding the five bodies was not easy because the terrain and is located near a river.
Dedi explained that the five bodies had been found after the National Police and Basarnas deployed a K9 team to search for bodies in the area.
"Removal of the bodies was carried out using bamboo stretchers by six joint personnel at the scene," he said.
Dedi added that the five bodies found today were immediately taken to the Sayang Hospital Cianjur for identification.

Dedi added that the National Police and the joint team will continue to search and evacuate all earthquake and landslide victims who are still missing throughout the Cianjur area. The search and evacuation of victims was carried out from morning to night.
"We will not stop here, the National Police and the joint team will continue to search for all the victims of the earthquake and landslides in Cianjur," he said.
The Cugenang area was the worst affected area after the Cianjur earthquake, a number of residents are still reported missing there.

Based on data from The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) as of Thursday afternoon November 24, 2022, it was recorded that the death toll had increased to 272 people.
