JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo instructed the Head of the National Police Medical Center (Kapusdokes) to send additional medical personnel from the National Police Headquarters to assist in evacuating and helping the victims of the Cianjur earthquake.

"We will send additional doctors from Headquarters to be able to help victims who mostly have broken bones, so they can be treated here," Sigit told reporters while visiting earthquake victims at the Bhayangkara Hospital in Cianjur, West Java, Tuesday, November 22, 2022.

A number of hospitals were indeed affected by the earthquake, but he ensured that services to assist the handling of victims and patients being treated were not disrupted.

The National Police will help set up emergency tents at the Bhayangkara Hospital so that they can still serve patients and earthquake victims who are being treated.

"There are some improvements that we will carry out in the future, but in principle, we can still serve patients at Bhayangkara Hospital, including we also prepare additional tents and places for trauma healing," said Sigit.

Not only that, Sigit said he had coordinated with related parties, especially hospitals that needed health workers. If there is a shortage of human resources, he ordered the Kapusdokes to send police personnel specifically for the health sector.

"Kapusdokkes has also prepared a special Brigade for us to move in handling the earthquake," he said.

In terms of evacuation, Sigit said that the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team succeeded in identifying 90 percent of the victims who had died.

Apart from that, a K-9 team was also deployed to find out if there were any victims that were still buried under rubble.

"We sent the K9 team to help because there are indeed several buildings that might not be able to evacuate at this time, so we need to help with K9, earlier we got a report that 7 people had been found and earlier the President's order was clear that the evacuation process was optimized," said Sigit.
