BSSN Appointed as Lead Sector for Cyberspace Security at the G20 Summit in Bali

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Indonesian National Army (TNI), with the National Cyber ​​and Crypto Agency (BSSN) are working together to support the G20 Summit (KTT) in Bali on November 15-16, 2022.

As stipulated in Presidential Decree Number 3 of 2022, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, was appointed as the Person in Charge of the Security Sector, which joined in the National Committee for Indonesia's 2022 G20 Presidency.

Regarding this responsibility, the security of the G20 Summit will involve around 18,000 personnel from the Indonesian army (TNI), police force and various others.

General Andika explained that the number of TNI personnel deployed in securing the G20 Summit is 14,000 personel, from the Indonesian police there will be 3,200 personel and the rest will come from a combination of other institutions.

Regarding cyberspace security, General Andika Perkasa called BSSN to lead the front.

"We are working with BSSN regarding cyber security, BSSN in this case becomes the lead sector. Later the TNI will also be in elements involved in the cyber world, such as the TNI Cyber ​​Unit and the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency," Andika said as quoted from a BSSN press release dated October 27, 2022.

Meanwhile, BSSN Spokesperson Ariandi Putra said that BSSN had made a number of security measures because the security of the G20 Summit was not only carried out on the day of the international event, but also before and after the D-day event.

"BSSN has carried out cyber security in the context of the G20 Summit since last July 2022," Ariandi said last month.

Ariandi said that BSSN had identified various potential cyber threats that occurred in Indonesia, including spear phishing, malicious documents or viruses affixed to documents, hijacking, fake wifi and malware operations.

"As the leading cyber security sector at the G20 Summit, BSSN is tasked with collaborating several cyber security plans with relevant stakeholders, such as the TNI, Polri, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Health, Cabinet Secretariat, and a number of other parties," said Ariandi.

Prior to the event, BSSN has also audited the information management system, measured the level of cyber security, and monitored traffic anomalies and potential cyber threats.
