JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Central Java Governor, Ganjar Pranowo has stated that he is ready to be chosen by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle or PDI-P as a presidential candidate.
This is the first time Ganjar Pranowo, who is a PDIP party cadre, openly states that he is ready to compete in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
In an interview with Beritasatu, Ganjar stated "for this nation and country, what are we not ready for," said Ganjar on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
Even though he is ready to run as a presidential candidate, Ganjar admits that he still respects the internal political ethics of the PDI-P.
The process for the announcement of presidential candidates is carried out by Megawati Soekarnoputri, the Chairperson of the PDI-P.
Meanwhile, as reported by Tempo, Executive Director of Trias Politica Strategis, Agung Baskoro said that Ganjar's statement automatically pressured the Chairperson of PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri to immediately decide on PDI-P’s 2024 presidential candidate.

"The PDIP National Working Meeting instructs all cadres that the matter of presidential candidacy is the president's prerogative so that in the midst of the remaining time, Puan Maharani (Daughter of Megawati Soekarnoputri) can establish communication with other coalition partners considering that PDIP does not want to run alone in the presidential election even though it meets the presidential threshold," Agung said in his statement on Wednesday.
So far, only the National Democratic (NasDem) Party has officially endorsed a presidential candidate for Indonesian General Election 2024.
The declaration was announced directly by NasDem General Chair Surya Paloh at the NasDem Party DPP Office in Central Jakarta, Monday, October 3, 2022.

"This is why NasDem finally chose Anies Rasyid Baswedan. We believe the thoughts from a macro-micro perspective are in line with what we believe. We entrust the nation's journey forward, God willing, if Anies is elected, he will lead the nation to become a more dignified nation," said Paloh, as reported by CNN Indonesia.
