JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian Ministry of Manpower managed to thwart the non-procedural placement of 38 Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) at Soekarno Hatta Airport.
Director General of Supervision of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health, Ministry of Manpower, Haiyani Rumondang said that the 38 PMIs are planned to be deployed to the Middle East.
"We have asked the Labor Inspector to thoroughly investigate the parties involved, both P3MI (PMI Placement Company) and individuals. We will continue to coordinate with relevant Agencies and Regional Governments to take care of it," said Haiyani Rumondang, in a press release on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
Director of Development of Labor Norm Inspection of the Ministry of Manpower, Yuli Adiratna explained previously that the Labor Inspector had received a report regarding the alleged non-procedural placement of Migrant Workers at Soekarno Hatta Airport.
As a follow-up, a surprise inspection was carried out at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, on Monday, October 17, 2022.
"We thank the media, NGOs, and the public who continue to provide information to prevent the placement of non-procedural PMIs," said Yuli.
The inspection carried out at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport was carried out by the Labor Inspection Team after coordination with the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police and the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Service Center (BP3MI).
Through this inspection, it is known that the 38 PMI Candidates are planned to be dispatched to Colombo by Sri Lanka Airplane.
The PMI candidates were then examined at the Soekarno Hatta Airport Police Station before being moved to the Trauma Center Safe House (RPTC) Bambu Apus.
