Indonesia National Police Confirm the Arrest of Inspector General Teddy Minahasa on Drug Trafficking Charges

JAKARTADAILY.ID – National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo confirmed the arrest of Inspector General Teddy Minahasa Putra on charges of drug trafficking.

The National Police Chief stated that he ordered the Head of National Police Internal Affair Division to arrest Inspector General of Police Teddy Minahasa Putra after investigators confirmed his involvement in the drug case.

General Listyo explained that the arrest of Inspector General Teddy Minahasa began with the discovery of drug networks by the Polda Metro Jaya Police.

Three suspects that were arrested and questioned pointed to a member of the Police with the rank of Chief Brigadier and a Commissioner with the position of Sectoral Police Chief.

General Listyo then asked Polda Metro Jaya to dig  deeper. The investigation lead to a dealer, then to members of the National Police with the rank of Adjunct Police Commissioner (AKBP) who was the former Bukitinggi Chief of Police.

"From there, we saw the involvement of the Inspector General TM (Teddy Minahasa), based on those findings, yesterday I ordered the the Internal Affairs Division to pick up and conduct an examination (on Teddy)," said General Listyo Sigit.

On Friday morning, October 14, General Listyo said that the Internal Affairs division designated Teddy Minahasa as a suspect.

“Then of course related to this, I ask that the Head of Internal Affairs Division to carry out an examination related to the police code of ethics, and then we can proceed with the threat of PTDH punishment,” he said.

The National Police Chief added that he also asked the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran to carry out a criminal process related to the drug case.

"This is certainly part of our seriousness to take firm action on drug issues, and this is also a warning to all members," said the National Police Chief.

Inspector General Teddy Minahasa Putra had just been appointed as the East Java Regional Police Chief, replacing Inspector General Nico Afinta. 

Inspector General Teddy Minahasa Putra previously served as the West Sumatra Police Chief.
