National Police Investigating 18 Police Officers On Duty During the Kanjuruhan Tragedy

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Indonesian National Police's investigation team consisting of the Criminal Investigation and Investigation Agency (Baresrkim), the Special Inspectorate (Itsus Polri), and the Internal Affairs (Propam) are still investigating the Kanjuruhan Stadium tragedy, Malang, which killed hundreds of people.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General of Police Dedi Prasetyo said the special team had examined 18 police regarding security procedures on when handling the fans riot at the stadium after Arema FC's match against Persebaya.

"The team from the Bareksrim examiner internally from Itsus and Propam conducted an examination of the members who were directly involved in the security. The 18 members who are responsible or operators of throwing weapons are investigated by Itsus and Propam," said the National Police spokesperson, Inspector General Pol Dedi Prasetyo to reporters on Monday, October 3, 2022.

In addition, continued Dedy, the Itsus team and Propam will also explore the issue of match security procedures.

"We are also studying security managerial issues, starting from the rank of officer (first) to pamen," he said.

In addition to examining 18 security officers, Dedi said that his party will also examined witnesses, including the Director of the New Indonesia League, the Chairman of East Java PSSI, the Chair of the organizing committee from Arema, and the Head of the East Java Province Sports Service.

Dedi added that the forensic laboratory of the National Police also analyzed the CCTV locations around the stadium.
