JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Indonesian National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, confirmed that he would conduct an audit of the standard operating procedures or SOPs applied by the police during the football match.
The statement was conveyed when he saw firsthand the condition of the Kanjuruhan Stadium after the crush that occurred after a football match between Arema FC versus Persebaya Surabaya.
While the crowd was initially rowdy at first, but it was still under control. It was allegedly until the police fired multiple shots of tear gas rounds that the crowd, suffocating, panicked and flooded onto the football field.
"The team will certainly explore the SOP and the steps that have been carried out by the Task Force or the security team who carry out their duties during the implementation of the match. Of course, the existing stages will be audited," said Sigit in Malang, East Java, Sunday Oktober 2, 2022.
According to Sigit, the investigation team deployed to the location will explore all matters. The results of the investigation, he continued, would later be part of the investigation process carried out.
"Then we also received information on efforts to rescue Persebaya and Arema FC players and officials. We will explore everything and this will be part of a thorough investigation from the organizers, from the security side, and the parties involved," he explained.
Sigit added that the police will also carry out an examination of other parties who are considered involved in organizing the Arema FC match against Persebaya.
