National Human Rights Commission Obtains Evidence in their Investigation on the Kanjuruhan Stadium Tragedy

JAKARTADAILY.ID – Indonesian Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) has dispatched a team to investigate the rioting of supporters at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, East Java on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Komnas HAM commissioner Choirul Anam said that his party had communicated with a number of Arema supporters and pocketed some evidence for investigation.

"We got some information, facts, including various videos, voice notes, and this is a provision for us to go to the field tomorrow," he said Sunday, October 2, 2022.

Furthermore, Anam said that his party was studying the regulations from FIFA and Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) which would then be juxtaposed with the facts.

"Including we will also explore the use of tear gas. This is our provision that we will use starting tomorrow in Malang,” he explained.

The riots that occurred after a football match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, East Java on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

According to East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General of Police Nico Afinta, the match at Kanjuruhan Stadium actually went smoothly.
