Number of Victims of the Kanjuruhan Stadium Tragedy Increased to 174 people

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The number of victims who died in the football riot at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang increased to 174 people.

This was revealed by the Deputy Governor of East Java, Emil Dardak in an interview with KompasTV, Sunday, October 2, 2022.

“The amount of victim's data was obtained from the crisis center at 10.30 am,” said Emil.

Emil Said the handling of victims was carried out in 8 referral hospitals. Meanwhile, the identification and repatriation of the bodies is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, the East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General of Police Nico Afinta explained that the cause of the large number of victims who died was because during the riots there was a mass accumulation.

"There is a buildup inside, the accumulation process causes shortness of breath, lack of oxygen," Nico Afinta told reporters at the Malang Police Headquarters, Sunday October 2, 2022.

Nico also added that 180 people who were injured have now been treated. They have now been evacuated in several hospitals.
