Indonesian National Police: Provisional Investigation Results Did Not Find the '303 Consortium'

JAKARTADAILY.ID – The National Police stated that their investigations did not find any tie-in between Ferdy Sambo and an online gambling ring referred to as the "303," referring to the police's criminal code for gambling.

"It has been asked to the Criminal Investigation Unit, while the results are not available," said the Head of General Information of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Chief Commissioner Nurul Azizah when confirmed by reporters, Thursday, September 29, 2022.

The 303 consortia have been in the spotlight as the murder case of Brigadier Nopriansyah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J.

It started with the circulation of a chart on social media showing the names and roles of people suspected of being involved in an illegal business network.

The graphic depicted Sambo ruling an "Empire of the 303 Consortium" alongside other police generals.

The name Consortium 303, refers to a consortium of businesses believed to be behind some large online gambling sites operating in Indonesia, where Islam is the majority and gambling is considered haram.

Code 303 itself refers to Article 303 of the Criminal Code concerning gambling.
